Stephanie Bauer Marshall, Founder & CEO of M3 Advisors, a boutique consultancy, is a high-energy senior marketer and business advisor with more than 20 years of experience. From leading an innovation team at a Fortune 15 corporation through the challenging process of developing and marketing patented products, to refining early-stage offerings, Ms. Marshall is an industry-recognized leader in successfully bringing digital advertising, mobile marketing, and big data monetization products and services to market. Ms. Marshall was one of Business Insider’s “Most Influential Women in Mobile Advertising” for two consecutive years and as well as a “Woman to Watch” by Mobile Marketer.
Currently, Ms. Marshall advises early and mid-stage start ups as well as association clients to help define, position, market and evangelize new products and services. Ms. Marshall also runs SPROCKIT, where she connects big companies with startups in the media and mobility sectors, and is an investor in Portfolia, Kenzen and other companies with diverse teams. She also supports SheEO, Citrine Angels , and other organizations focused on closing the funding gap for female founders.
Most recently, she served as Chief Commercial Officer for Wireless Registry, where she crafted and executed the go to market and brought on the company’s first commercial deals.
Ms. Marshall spent a decade in leadership roles at Verizon, where she led Precision Market Insights at Verizon Wireless (now part of Verizon Media), a business segment Ms. Marshall incubated and launched in 2012. This new business line focused on providing brands with a variety of licensed and custom solutions, powered by layering audience insights based on mobile engagement, location and demographic info. Before launching Precision, Ms. Marshall led Verizon’s mobile marketing and ad group, where she created the company’s first mobile web and ad targeting programs.
Prior to joining Verizon Wireless, Ms. Marshall worked at Merchant Link, a subsidiary of J.P. Morgan Chase, where she was responsible for defining and marketing the company’s existing products and directing the strategy for new product creation. At Merchant Link, Ms. Marshall developed a secure transactions product that was awarded a patent. Ms. Marshall also spent nearly five years at CTIA-The Wireless Association. Ms. Marshall’s extensive experience also includes roles in client-side marketing, branding and creative development.
Ms. Marshall helped create the industry’s mobile ad and coupon standards and served for a number of years on the Board of the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and the Internet Advertising Bureau’s (IAB) Mobile Center of Excellence. She also served on the University of Maryland Smith School of Business Alumni Association board and is currently a member of the Corporate Advisory Board at the Smith School. At Smith, she co-founded and served as the first president of the Part-Time MBA Association, an organization aimed at meeting the needs of part-time students and improving the Smith community.
Ms. Marshall has a BA in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics and Government from American University with international experience in trade relations at the Universitie catholique de Louvain in Brussels, Belgium. Ms. Marshall received her MBA from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.
